Gable vaults her way up the revised Labyrinth’s vertical narrows.
Hi all,
I’m planning to relaunch in the very near future. I still have a little bit to do, but with the 113 update out, I’ve improved on quite a bit of the stuff I wanted to have more polished and presentable before the announcement. 🙂
Anyway, I wanted to get your thoughts.
My plan has been to announce the relaunch date one month in advance. Run the Kickstarter for 30 to 35 days, and complete the commercial version of Down Ward by the end of this year in December. Given the shorter 8 month time frame, I may omit stretch goals, and I’ll simplify the project a bit from the prior Kickstarter. Likewise I’ll set the funding goal around 10 to 12,000. If funded it would still be my first commercial project, and I still want to be very careful about having enough time to do everything I promise, with a good margin to spare.
I don’t mind making the scope a bit smaller. Simply getting a successful Kickstarter project from beginning to end, and no longer being unfamiliar with that process, will set me a bit more at ease, and open up a lot of freedom for future projects. There are a lot of project ideas I’d love to work on in the future, but I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself, before concretely completing a simple one first. 🙂
So, if I announce in a week, Feb 19th, and launch a month later, that would start the Kickstarter around March 19th, and end it around April 19th or so. Currently I plan to make the one-month-advanced announcement no later than the end of February, so one way or another, the relaunch is coming pretty soon! 🙂
If you have any thoughts on sooner vs later, or campaign duration, or stretch goals, or any of the above, I’d love to hear them.
I’ll probably shy away from announcing right at the end of February, just because that puts the actual relaunch start date a little close to April Fools, and I don’t want to invite any confusion there. That said, since April Fools will be somewhere in the middle of the campaign, I’m hoping I’ll get some time to do another bit of artwork for it. 🙂
Once again, I really appreciate that you’ve all taken time to stop by my continued updates. Likewise, I hope it’s clear from the number of updates I’ve done, that I love sharing what I’m working on with you all, Down Ward or otherwise, and when I said, a few hours after the end of the last Kickstarter, that I don’t give up, I meant it. 🙂
